Barnardo's is looking for an experienced Media Officer to lead on its biggest corporate partnership to date with Co-op. This partnership, which is soon to be entering its second year, aims to raise £5 million to develop a range of youth services throughout the UK. This is an incredibly exciting role which brings with it the ability to be innovative and creative across a range of communications channels including the Barnardo's website, social media, national, regional and trade press.
You will also be part of the wider Barnardo's media team, working collaboratively to plan, pitch and deliver media coverage, as well as working reactively with UK media.
The successful candidate must have similar experience of working collaboratively with a large corporate partner in a communications role and managing stakeholder relationships.
Experience of working in a high profile, fast-paced press office, media outlet or public relations function is essential, as is the ability to use social media channels to contribute content for a variety of platforms. Knowledge, experience and understanding of issues affecting children and young people in England is vital and existing relationships with key journalists and press outlets is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will be required to handle sensitive, confidential issues and work out-of-hours on a duty rota.
Although this contract has a permanent status, please be aware that this post is subject to funding currently to 31 December 2025 and therefore should this funding not be extended further, you may be subject to a redundancy consultation or a TUPE arrangement. This contract is due to expire on 31 December 2025.
