We are looking for a committed, enthusiastic and caring Learning Support Assistant to join our Heatherside family. As a Learning Support Assistant you will have the privilege of being part of the children's learning journey as you work alongside the class teacher under their direction, as well as using your own initiative.
This particular role is to work with a specific child 1:1 who has a tracheostomy and is tube fed. Throughout the day you will need to assist with personal care and attend to clinical care needs when required. This role will be within a mainstream classroom, with learning opportunities both indoors and outdoors to enable the child to access all aspects of the curriculum with their peers. Experience for this role is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.
Duties specific to this role:
- Keeping the tracheostomy clear of blockages – suctioning, nebulisers
- Constant observation to ensure child’s safety
- Managing child’s personal care
- Keeping medical equipment clean
- Supporting child’s speech and language development
