Orbia’s Fluor and Energy Materials business is hiring a Medical Operating Plant Manager to be based at Rocksavage, Runcorn.

 

Purpose:

To manage and develop plant operations, operating teams, and resources to deliver SHE, quality, production, cost, and people development targets in line with the company’s SHE and business targets.

This Medical Operating manager role is responsible for managing the Z134a & Z152a purification plants, the Medical repackaging facility, all medical logistics activities and inventory management at Rocksavage.

 

Working Mon-Fri 8am-4pm with some flexibility expected.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, communicate, and control production plans on a short- and medium-term basis to meet business and maintenance requirements, and control fixed and variable costs.
  • Monitor the safety, health and environmental performance of the plant and develop improvements to ensure production operations conform to current and future legislation.
  • Manage the shift (and day) teams’ competence, performance, attendance and behavior to ensure they meet company standards. 
  • Work with the site production manager in the development and implementation of personal improvement plans for the medical process teams & develop their skills, knowledge & competencies in line with agreed targets set at the personal review time.
  • Assist in the development & implementation of improvement plans to reduce plant fixed & variable costs and to optimize performance in line with the business needs.
  • Monitor and coach/supervise teams regularly and troubleshoot opportunities to improve safety, production operations, to reduce costs, improve quality and to support planned changes/improvements.
  • Co-ordinate the process planning of shutdowns and maintenance activities to ensure that the necessary resources are obtained, and the plan is developed and executed within agreed timescales.

 

Qualification and Experience:

  • Minimum: HNC/D or NVQ Level 5
  • Leadership & Management qualification e.g. ILM Level 4, Team Leader, Supervisor Apprenticeship Standard (including CMI L3 Diploma in Management) or similar management qualification.
  • NEBOSH or IOSH qualifications would be desirable.
  • Lean/6σ and Continuous Improvement would be desirable.
  • Experience of working and ideally supervision of unionised workforce on continuous shift patterns preferably on a Top Tier COMAH site.
  • Experience of controlling and monitoring processes and unit operations using control systems e.g. DCS, PLC.
  • Experience of using and applying safe systems of work.
  • Experience in handling, storage and transportation of chemicals including utilities (ideally those stored, handled, used, and produced on site).
  • Experience in using IT systems (ideally those used on site and in role e.g. SAP, Microsoft Office, Aspen PIMS etc.).
  • Experience of planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance in terms of work planning and safe implementation.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal, written and electronic.
  • Influencing skills and stakeholder management.
  • Business acumen with ability to provide strategic thinking and a keen focus and awareness of good safety and quality practices.
