Lunchtime is a really important part of the school day for our pupils, so we would like to appoint a Midday Supervisor who is keen to make a difference to a child’s experience at school.
The ideal candidate will have a range of talents, experiences and skills so they are able to offer something unique to our school community.
The role will include supporting children’s play activities on the playground, helping in the dining hall, toileting duties as well as working as part of a friendly, dedicated team of Midday Supervisors to create a positive environment for our pupils. Previous experience of working with children in a school is preferable but full training will also be given.
The main duties are detailed within the attached Job Description, however some of the key requirements for this role are detailed below:-
• have a good understanding of children with special educational needs and be able to provide care and support as appropriate
• be trained to operate special needs machinery, tools (eg hoists, certain feeding equipment)
• have relevant training to deal with a pupil who suffers an epileptic fit
• have relevant training in dysphagia
• literacy skills to be able to understand school policies and complete accident book
• be able to understand, comply and work within policies: eg. school behaviour policy, child protection policy, health and safety, confidentiality and other school rules
• be aware of cultural differences
• be prepared to undertake necessary training as above.
About Exhall Grange Specialist School:
Exhall Grange Specialist School is a county-wide specialist provision for pupils aged between 4 and 19 on the outskirts of Coventry. The school meets the needs of pupils who are unable to access the curriculum in a mainstream school owing to their sensory impairment or physical disabilities or the impact of long-term illness or social communication difficulties including autism.
The School has a strong ethos with a clear vision and values with an emphasis on ‘be your best self’ for both students and staff. You will become a valued member of an encouraging and friendly staff group.
Working Hours/Salary:
Your working hours will be 10 hours per week, working 12.00 noon until 14.00 pm, Monday to Friday during term time only (38 weeks per year).
You may be required to work with any age group within the school from Early Years Foundation Stage to Post 16.
The actual salary for this role is £ 5,212 per annum.
