Job description

Mixed Veterinary Surgeon

Speyside Vets, Aberlour Veterinary Centre

Salary up to £65,000 depending on experience plus a relocation allowance up to £5,000

Speyside Vets are currently looking for an experienced Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to join our practice in Aberlour. We are a genuinely mixed practice (50% small animal, 30% large – though no dairy - and 20% equine), but a species preference could be accommodated if the candidate was willing to participate in a mixed out of hours rota.

We encourage further development in specific areas of interest to provide a better service to our clients and maximise career satisfaction for our staff.  For example, we have small animal surgeons who undertake a lot of our own orthopaedic work at our thriving dedicated small animal surgery.

Rota patterns that work for you

The rota will include working 40 hours over 4 days per week plus a fair share of the out of hours rota. We are happy to consider flexible working however we would need someone to do a full share of the out of hours rota.

Want to know more about Speyside and our amazing team?

The Speyside Veterinary Group are modern, fully equipped mixed practice with small animal, equine and farm animal departments providing dedicated routine and emergency care throughout the Moray area. Our 8 Vets are supported by excellent Nurses and Receptionists to enable us to deliver a caring, professional and efficient 24-hour service for our clients.

Small animals are seen at both our Aberlour and Fochabers branches, while our equine and large animal work is run mostly from Aberlour. Both our surgeries provide a comprehensive service for your pets with an extensive range of modern facilities and equipment. Hospitalisation is available where needed for sicker patients at Aberlour.

Aberlour is the home of Aberlour whisky, as well as many others in the area. Aberlour is a village in Moray, Scotland, 12 miles (20 km) south of Elgin on the road to Grantown. The Lour burn is a tributary of the River Spey, and it and the surrounding parish are both named Aberlour, but the name is more commonly used in reference to the village which straddles the stream and flanks the Spey – although the full name of the village is Charlestown of Aberlour.

Fochabers is a village in the Parish of Bellie, in Moray, Scotland, 10 miles (16 km) east of the cathedral city of Elgin and located on the east bank of the River Spey. 1,728 people live in the village, which enjoys a rich musical and cultural history. The village is also home to Baxters, the family-run manufacturer of foodstuffs. With Inverness and Inverness airport only an hour away, it is great for keeping in touch with city life.
