We are currently looking to appoint an additional Plant Fitter/Mechanic to join our maintenance team, reporting to the yard/transport manager. The role will be mostly based at our Babraham yard, although site-based repairs and servicing will also be required. As a member of the maintenance team you will assist with all aspects of the day to day running of the company s Mobile Plant; ensuring it is maintained and repaired to a safe and efficient standard, whilst complying with company Health & Safety and Quality Systems.
As this role forms part of the maintenance team, we are flexible in the experience of potential candidates and will consider anyone from a long standing experienced mechanic, to a recently qualified mechanic, the main criteria will be someone with a good mechanical interest and understanding with the ability to think on their feet and fix things, and most importantly be the right fit for the Company.
Salary will be dependent on experience.
A Company van will be provided.
The hours of work will be predominantly Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm, with very occasional overtime dependant on operational need.
Responsibilities Include:
- Routine maintenance and repair of company plant equipment (360 Excavators, Dumpers & Dump trucks, loading shovels, crushers and screeners, Rollers, and small contractors plant, etc.)
- Diagnose faults and provide solutions for repair.
- Contribute towards effective preventive maintenance e.g. general equipment Inspections and ensuring site staff are familiar with their daily maintenance responsibilities and are carrying them out correctly.
- Ensure paperwork is on time, legible and completed daily Job sheets and Inspection documentation etc.
- Use effective time management skills and plan workload effectively.
- Ensure workshop facilities, equipment and tools are kept clean, tidy and maintained.
- Communicate accurately with management team as to work in progress and any anticipated delays or issues.
- To assist when necessary with the maintenance of general HGV and Company Van defects.
- Ensure Health & Safety is adhered to and safe working practices followed at all times wearing appropriate PPE as required.
- To communicate effectively and work as part of the team.
Qualifications/Experience
- Recognised mechanical apprenticeship or proven experience of repairs and maintenance to mobile and fixed plant or similar.
- Experience in repairing light and heavy commercial vehicles would be an advantage.
- Fabrication skills would be an advantage.
- Able to use diagnostic equipment (Jaltest or similar).
- Good Electrical and Hydraulic knowledge.
- Car License is required.
- Health & Safety knowledge.
