Job description

The team you will join:

The Model Success team at Moody’s RMS exists to ensure that our clients get great value from their investments in our catastrophe models and data.

  • We ensure that our clients make knowledgeable, effective, and efficient use of our constantly evolving suite of world-leading catastrophe models, from hurricanes to cyber-attacks to climate change.
  • We are a global team of outstanding people who enjoy succeeding through our differences in skills and background, while taking pride in what we all share: a passion for helping customers, technical/scientific aptitude, and a great work ethic focused on action and impact.

The role:

As a Modelling Services Analyst, you will:

  • Drive the success of varied and interesting customer requests relating to the full range of Moody’s RMS models and products
    • From quickfire problem solving, to delivering training, to more extensive analysis/interpretation
    • Act as the first point of contact for incoming requests, communicating directly with our customers
    • Closely partner with experienced colleagues to deepen your technical understanding to enhance customer outcomes
    • Ensure customers receive accurate, complete, and fit for purpose information

You will also receive fantastic opportunities to:

  • Continuously improve your skills and knowledge of the catastrophe models and products that are at the forefront of our industry (from the science behind them, to getting the most out of their input/output).
  • Work closely with a wide variety of customers and colleagues across the globe and in-person.
  • Use your experience of working with our customers to improve our suite of self-serve materials online.

As you develop skills within the role and progress in your career within the team, you will have the opportunity to attain more specialised knowledge in a subset of topic areas and also take on more responsibility in the following areas:

  • Resolving more complex client requests, which may involve:
    • Working directly with Subject Matter Experts in other teams
    • Handling more sensitive client communications
    • Leading training sessions with minimal preparation
  • Guiding junior team members in their role and development
    • Driving the success of work that involves multiple contributors
    • Training and developing new talent (graduates)

The qualities you need to succeed:

Our team members all demonstrate an exceptional ability to thrive in an environment which demands strong teamwork, technical aptitude, and dedication to our clients and their needs. As a Senior Analyst, you:

  • Put others first. You are motivated by the desire to help other people succeed.
  • Enjoy solving complex problems. You relish the challenge of solving analytical problems with and for other people.
  • Are a strong communicator. You communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and in presentations.
  • Make the complex simple. You articulate technical or scientific concepts clearly to varied audiences.
  • Are driven to achieve great outcomes. You prioritize what is of greatest impact, identify blockers/raise challenges, can juggle multiple pieces of work at once, and understand when a job is done.
  • Love to learn. You demonstrate a constant desire and broad capacity to learn new skills and concepts.
  • Grasp new concepts quickly. You can pivot to new topic areas swiftly and apply prior knowledge to aid this.
  • Are a great team player. You collaborate effectively varied colleagues to drive positive outcomes.
  • Have technical acumen. You utilise your experience in catastrophe modelling concepts and related applications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in catastrophe risk modelling industry
    • Technical expertise in catastrophe models and their usage (climate, earthquake, cyber, etc.)
    • Prior experience of using Moody’s RMS catastrophe models and associated software is preferred (e.g. RiskLink®, Risk Modeler™, SQL, R)
