Location: Head office, Newbury
Hours: Monday - Friday, 9.00am - 5.00pm (35 hours per week)

What will you be doing?
Distribute work fairly amongst the team members which consists of 6 Underwriters (of which 2 are Senior level)
Ensure that SLAs are consistently met
Act as a credible decision maker for referrals from the Sales and Underwriting teams
Use loan approval mandate appropriately
Make lending recommendations to other advanced mandate holders
Develop strong working relationships with direct reports, guiding and supporting them to develop the wider team
Set clear expectations of performance and behaviours, leading by example, and share how these contribute to the ongoing success of the Society
Understand your responsibilities and obligations in relation to the prevention of financial crime

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE FOR THE ROLE
Experience of working with internal and/or external, customers to ensure the highest quality service experience
Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication skills
Significant mandated, manual Mortgage Underwriting experience
Motivation to want to lead and develop a team with evidence of leadership qualities
DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE FOR THE ROLE
Experience of managing and coaching an effective team
CeMAP qualified (if not, you will be required to study for it under the support of the Society)
Competent in the use of Microsoft packages - Word, Excel, Outlook and Office 365
