Do you have significant post diploma experience working in a hospital mortuary service which includes forensic and paediatric post mortems? Are you a highly organised, compassionate and collaborative individual seeking a challenging leadership role where you can uphold and enhance the care we provide to all our deceased patients and our bereaved, ensure the efficient operational running of three mortuaries and lead a team of dedicated staff to uphold practices of the highest quality?
As the Mortuary Manager, you will oversee and contribute to the day-to-day operation of our three hospital mortuaries, ensuring the dignified care of our deceased patients. With other managers and team leaders within the service you will work closely with funeral directors, bereavement service teams, Coroners and Police to deliver the best quality service to all. As well as patient care, you will be responsible for the management of the services facilities and all equipment. Your specialist skills and experience in all aspects of Anatomical Pathology Technology will enable you to lead and contribute to the Trust’s post-mortem service, including participating in an out of hours on-call roster and design and contribute to the development of training schemes for all staff groups within the mortuary service and wider Trust as needed.

The mortuary service in Leicester operates across 3 hospital sites, cares for approximately 6500 patients each year and is capable of accommodating up to 700 patients simultaneously.
The service has been at the forefront of developing CT as a non-invasive diagnostic alternative to traditional post-mortem for a number of years and performed over two 2000 examinations last year. This included adult, perinatal, paediatric, hospital, coronial and forensic examinations. We receive referrals, from across the UK, for coronial, bariatric and patients with group 3 pathogens, including prion disease.
