Job description

Job Title: Motor Transport Driver
Location: Holyhead, Anglesey
Compensation: £10.92 per hour (flexible hours to be discussed)
Role Type: Zero Hours Contract
Role ID: SF53641

At Babcock we're working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Motor Transport (MT) Driver at RAF Valley on Anglesey.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a flexible individual with a committed work approach, who is able to make themselves available for ad-hoc driving tasks during any seven calendar-day period.
The role
As an MT Driver, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. RAF Valley is home to No 4 Flying Training School, responsible for training the UK's next generation of world-class fighter pilots. In this varied and interesting role, you'll play a vital part in supporting our team of MT Drivers with their existing tasking. You'll be assisting with a range of collection and delivery tasks, as well as ensuring Service Personnel reach their destinations on time.
The MT Driver will provide a professional and friendly service, which will include but won't be limited to:
  • Driving a range of vehicles (driver familiarisation training will be given on a range of vehicle platforms)
  • Collection and/or delivery of equipment and aircraft parts from various locations around the UK
  • Escorting Service Personnel to and from appointments
  • Transferring Service Personnel to and from Airport
  • Any reasonable ad hoc duties, within the spirit of the role of an MT Driver, as required

The MT Driver post is based on site at RAF Valley, with UK travel/driving required as part of the role. On occasion, the MT Driver will be required to stay overnight in hotel accommodation, prior to picking up Service Personnel on flights returning to the UK during the early hours (accommodation and food and drink expenses will be covered by Babcock).
Due to the nature of this post, hours of work may vary from day-to-day, dependent upon operational requirements. For planning purposes, the successful individual will be required to liaise with the MT Manager to forecast their future availability, making themselves available for work as many hours as they wish.
Essential experience of the MT Driver:
  • Ability to read and sign MT Publications
  • Ability to undertake any Babcock or Ministry of Defence (MOD) mandated training, as per MOD contract requirements
  • Professional attitude; good customer service skills
  • Confident and able to communicate with customers and Service Personnel at all levels

Qualifications for the MT Driver:
  • Minimum Cat B licence (with no more than 6 penalty points)
  • Cat C1 or C Cat D1 or D Driver's card Tacho card

The successful candidate must be able to achieve BPSS security clearance, as a minimum, for this role.
Our Benefits
  • Matched contribution pension scheme up to 4.5% of salary, with life assurance
