Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer
Location: Alfreton
Hours:39 hour week
Rotating Shift patterns:
- Typically a 6am-2pm & 2pm-10pm Monday to Thursday
- Friday the shifts will be 6am-1pm and 1pm-8pm.
- There is a 10pm-6am shift but this is very rarely used
Salary: 30 to 45K DOE
Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer Role Purpose:
To carry out, according to competency and with minimum supervision, those tasks necessary to achieve the objective of engineering maintenance and installation in accordance with the site HSE standards and desired site reliability and technical integrity.
**Please note this is a multi-skilled role but is heavily mechanically biased with small amounts of electrical work**
Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Must demonstrate a fundamental understanding of particular core skill area as Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer.
- Must be numerate and literate, capable of using written instructions and engineering drawings to correctly diagnose problems in equipment or systems on site.
- Maintain a high level awareness and commitment in the safety, health and environmental aspects of his/her work in complying with all relevant site procedures.
- Carry out engineering activities in a safe manner, utilising appropriate personal protective equipment as specified.
- Be involved in all safety initiatives, i.e. audits, incident reporting, shutdown safety initiative, etc.
- Is responsible for ensuring that good housekeeping standards are maintained in his/her own activities, including the safe removal of all scrap engineering materials/general rubbish for his/her area of work.
- Use and participate in site permit work procedures.
- Carry out planned maintenance activities in order to facilitate the move from breakdown to planned maintenance on site.
- Participate, as required, in the construction, installation and commissioning of approved plant modifications and projects.
- Overhaul equipment to manufacturer's/site standards in order to provide cost effective maintenance on site.
- Assist in site inspection/testing activities as required, within own area of competence.
- Undergo basic engineering cross-skill training and upskill training in core skill area, and actively seek opportunities to apply these skills in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of engineering activities on the site.
- Work flexibly in all required areas of the site and in close co-operation with other members of his/her engineering team.
- Undergo further training for either plant equipment or engineering tools changes, and assist in the training of new personnel where necessary.
- Use Maintenance Management Systems to create stores requisitions and feedback work details as necessary.
Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer Criteria:
- Possess the relevant electrical qualifications and experience to be able to work safely within a manufacturing environment.
- Possess fundamental engineering mechanical knowledge and skills.
- Apprentice trained in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
- Educated to GCSE (Grades A-C) or equivalent
- IT literate.
- Team player.
- Positive communicator - verbal and written.
- Able to accept "change" and work flexibly to high standards.

- Ability to supervise and advise contract workers to safely complete required tasks on site.
- Experience of foam abrasive and extrusion manufacturing equipment.
- Strong adherence to health, safety, environment and quality standards.
- Self-motivated and capable of working to tight dead-lines
- Must be aware of and capable of working to engineering best practice
