We have a fantastic opportunity for a Multi Skilled Operative / Grounds Worker at Rochdale Council. This is a full-time temporary role for the next 2 - 3 months, with the possibility of extension.
What is the role?
Rochdale Council are looking for a Multi Skilled Operative to be part of a reactive and planned maintenance team providing a quality building maintenance service to the customers of Rochdale Borough Council. Carry out multi trade repairs / installs within set timescales in a manner that demonstrates a high regard for customer care, and a high standard of workmanship, efficiency, and compliance with customer / contract requirements.
What are your responsibilities?
- The principle duty will be to ensure all Ground works undertaken, including but not inclusive of the installation of ramps/steps, flagging/paving, and drainage, within the control of the operative, is carried out in a proper manner and in accordance with the required standards and legislation.
- You will have to ensure that safe and responsible methods of working are employed and followed at all times in accordance with current health and safety legislation through reading, understanding and helping to produce risk assessments, safe systems of work and method statements with team leaders.
- To be part of the Managed Property Services team responsible for construction related projects or services undertaken by the Property & Highways Service.
- Responsible for the high-quality delivery of all related services in a way which meets the requirements of relevant health and safety legislation and the obligations placed on the Council.
- Manage effective customer relationships that will retain and develop the business.
- Contribute towards Property & Highways Service's corporate and social responsibilities including policy, procedures, and governance arrangements.
- Member of the Operatives team delivering a safe, proactive, high quality and cost-effective service to both internal and external customers.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal services and external organisations and ensure the delivery of a responsive and professional service.
- To be accountable for all work under his/her control to be completed to agreed cost/budget, programme, quality, specification and achieving the Clients' expectations.
- Ensure that costs for each completed job are promptly and accurately captured, recorded, and submitted for invoicing.
- Assist with the preparation of quotes and cost estimates when requested.
What skills do you Need?
- Must have previous Multi Skilled Operative / Grounds Worker experience.
- Excellent people skills, as you will be speaking service users, and other members of staff including managers.
- Must be Physically Fit and Healthy, as you may have to lift heavy items and will include working outdoors.
- Full knowledge of all health and safety legislations
- Strong IT skills, as you will be using internal systems as well as Microsoft packages including Word and excel.
- A Valid Enhanced DBS will be required for this position.
- Working Hours will be 8 Hours a Day Monday to Thursday, and 5 Hours on a Friday.
