This summer, Southwark Playhouse will be adapting John Agard's picture book Windrush Child to tour into primary schools across south London.
The aim is to create a celebratory and immersive piece of theatre combining music and performance to bring the story and its themes to life for younger audiences.
We are running two days of R&D on February 13th and 14th, and are looking for a Musical Director for these, as we explore potential ideas. Further to this, we will be looking to appoint an MD for the production itself.
We are particularly looking for musicians with guitar and percussion abilities, and potentially woodwind as well. Experience of improvising and devising within a rehearsal/ R&D framework are ideal.
Because of the theme and content of the production, we are particularly keen to hear from musicians of Caribbean heritage.
This production will be directed by Liam Shea (Merboy, Clapham Omnibus) and produced by the Participation department at Southwark Playhouse.
Key Dates:
Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th February, 10am - 6pm
The production will then rehearse and perform between the end of May and the end of June.
Fee for the two days of R&D: £400
