Job description

About The Role

Do you love working with young people? Would you like to inspire local 13-16 year olds to aim for a creative career? If yes? Then we would encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity at Falmouth University.
The University are now working with the Saturday Club Trust to offer new National Saturday Clubs to local 13 to 16 year olds. This opportunity enables local young people to gain a ‘Uni-Experience’ at an early stage. The Club Members will be on our campuses every Saturday, learning new skills, meeting new people and breaking down any barriers to their continued study onto HE in the future.
We are now seeking a National Saturday Club Manager to manage the Film & Screen Club. This exciting new role enables you to influence and motivate local young people who are considering a future creative career. In this role, you will also be a part of the National Saturday Club brand and have the opportunity to work with other club tutors/managers across the Country. There is also a visit to London at the end of the club year, where all club members showcase their work and share best practice.
The club year runs from October to July each Saturday, term time, for 30 weeks. However, there will be additional weeks worked outside of the club timetable, to be involved in club promotion during July and September. This will equate to a total number of 39 weeks a year in term time.

About You

The ideal candidate will be someone who has a passion for Film and media, who enjoys working with young people, and who is comfortable in a teaching/training environment. Ideally, you will have a wide breadth of knowledge and skills across multiple disciplines and confident delivering different subject sessions. The range of disciplines covered within this club are media production, journalism, acting, sound production, scriptwriting, Film and television. We don’t expect the Club Manager to deliver all these subjects but have basic knowledge of as many as possible.
For further details on the skills/experience required for this role, please see the full job description above.
This is permanent, part time, 11 hours per week position, to include 4 hours on a Saturday and 7 hours during the week for preparation of resources, administration and booking of guest speakers.
If you are looking to have an informal discussion about the vacancy ahead of applying, please email Helen Norman, Head of Student Access & Success. helen.norman@falmouth.ac.uk.
The closing date for the position is Tuesday 9 April 2024.
