Nature Conservation Operations Assistant
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Salary: £24,000 - £26,000 per annum dependent on experience
Location: Upton Broad, Marshes Nature Reserve and across the county
Vehicle provided.

The Nature Conservation Operations Assistant post will have office space and equipment storage at NWT Upton Broad and Marshes Nature Reserve but will be mobile across the county, working across all NWT sites. If you have wide practical and technical skills along with significant experience of conservation land management, this role will provide an opportunity to work on some of the most wildlife rich habitats in the UK.

The Nature Conservation Operations Assistant will work closely with and be directed by the Nature Conservation Operations Manager. The Operations team guides, advises and assists staff teams working on NWT nature reserves. The team can undertake a variety of practical conservation management tasks and will work to support and maintain standard operating procedures and continuity of practical management approach across NWT’s land holdings.

The role will have the opportunity to use and be trained on a significant range of equipment and machinery as well as being required to maintain reserve infrastructure and equipment to a high standard. It will also play a key role in the completion of Health and Safety administration across NWT operations.

The successful candidate will have a detailed knowledge of machinery used for land management, basic engineering skills and a developed interest in Wildlife. Excellent communication skills are essential together with the ability to join different staff teams and quickly establish trust and respect through demonstrable competence and performance. The successful candidate will have training in the use of a wide range of machinery and power tools including tractors, 360 excavators, tracked dumper and chainsaws and be willing to work outdoors in all weathers doing practical tasks. The ability to complete and maintain written and electronic records to a high standard would also be advantageous.

This post presents the opportunity to work on some of the county’s most important wildlife sites undertaking vital work to aid nature’s recovery in Norfolk.
