Are you a highly experienced multi-method NDT technician or newly certified, just starting out? My client will consider people of whatever seniority or experience.
I'm looking for an NDT technician that enjoys variety in their work. By joining this rapidly growing company, you can work in the following sectors: Chemicals, pharmaceuticals, oil & gas, bulk storage & distribution, renewable and energy.
This is an excellent opportunity to expand your NDT skillset; my client is keen to develop their technicians to be the best they can - they would like all to have 4 methods as a minimum.
Working autonomously, or in a small team, you will represent my client at various customer sites; conduct NDT on a host of in-service equipment; produce comprehensive reports, and liaise closely with the customer. As such, you must be comfortable with customer-facing situations (if you don't yet have that confidence, you'll be given support to obtain the relevant experience).
My client currently operates a hybrid working scheme where the role allows. This is 1 - 2 days remote and 3 - 4 days in the office. They do like people on site whilst learning and being trained in the role. The hybrid working model is a response to the ongoing desire from staff after Covid and will remain in place as it is applicable to the business.
A typical remote working day would be to travel to the customer (mostly local to Runcorn), carry out NDT, then return to base. There is, however, scope to travel directly from home if this is more practical. You will have access to a company vehicle from their pool. Travel costs and time incurred outside of working hours will be paid.
Job responsibilities:
- Carry out non-destructive testing, ensuring that work is conducted in accordance with the Written Scheme of Examination, in-line with the appropriate standard and procedure.
- To work alongside other NDT Technicians where required.
- Maintain accurate records of site results to then translate onto specific reporting templates.
- Liaise closely with site contacts throughout works, and upon completion of NDT.
- Writing of NDT reports to a suitable standard, detailing all areas of test, restrictions and results.
- Ensure that all work is being performed efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Carry out work in accordance with the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality systems.
- Work within my client's inspection quality programme to maintain UKAS accreditation.
- Dependent upon experience, aid in the coaching and mentoring of junior members of the NDT team.
Job requirements:
- PCN Level 2 in at least one of the following, Magnetic Particle Testing or Dye Penetrant Testing, however both would be desirable. PCN Level 1 in Ultrasonic Testing is advantageous.
- Other Level 2 methods and techniques would command a higher salary.
- Experience with forged and wrought metals is advantageous.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- A valid, full UK Driving Licence.
- Very strong interpersonal skills, organisational agility and well-developed influencing skills, ideally in client facing roles.
- Able to meet deadlines to an efficient standard.
Hours of employment:
Core hours are 08:00-17:00 Monday to Friday with a paid break of an hour for lunch. Flexible working is a key element to my client's offering.
Job benefits:
- At parent site: Free hot drinks, kitchens/maisonettes on both floors; free parking on site; breakout areas.
