Job Purpose

You'll ensure that high quality information is produced to underpin the Network Delivery objective to proactively drive water network performance, optimising the network and its associated assets, whilst minimising customer disruption.

You'll support the Water Network Performance Manager, Network Performance Engineer and Technical Support Officer in the analysis of network performance information and identifying areas for operational optimisation and improvement.

Job Accountabilities

You'll be responsible for proactively tracking network performance through the provision and analysis of accurate and up-to-date data (from such systems as the NSCADA dashboard) to underpin the DOMS+ process as well as creating engineer packs to provide the Network Performance Engineer with a clear insight into water quality deviations and asset failures for further evaluation and the construction of programmes of investment. You'll also be responsible for:

  • Effective liaison with local Network Technical Support Officer (TSO) to ensure actions requiring escalation from DOMS+ are captured effectively and completed.
  • Maintaining the audit trails for DOMS+ ensuring that the integrity of the Tier 1 and Tier 2 tracking systems is sufficient to stand up to robust scrutiny.
  • Demonstrating the highest standards of safety behaviour and be jointly accountable for the safety performance within their team including site standards investigations and health and safety audits.
  • Analysis of DMZ level pressure reports, issues to then be reported for further investigation on the Hydrosave system and through discussion with relevant field personnel. Raise follow on work for PMV settings corrections and return to service scenarios.
  • Supporting the Network Performance Engineer in their duties as chair of the monthly pressure meetings.
  • Analysis of DG3 failures received by exception and identify root cause in accordance with Company procedure and service level agreements primarily using the INS corporate system, reporting findings and resulting actions to the Performance Team for onward regulatory reporting.
  • Proactively challenging data pertaining to DG3 failures (on/off times) if these are perceived to be in error resulting in the risk of inaccurate regulatory reporting. Raising and correcting boundaries and times on/off and raising GSS requests directly from this data on the INS system
  • Investigating network water quality exceedances (e.g. network water quality failures and compliance failures at service reservoirs), report the findings of the investigations to the drinking water regulations team and ensure that they are captured in the DOMS+ Tier process for further action where applicable.
  • Providing and validate data and information for regulatory purposes, specifically relating to DG2 and DG3.
  • Sharing best practice and consistently implement company policy and procedures to improve performance.
  • Working with the Network Performance Engineer to provide data and validate information relating to annual reporting (e.g. Pumped Head).

Knowledge and Skills

To be considered for this role you'll need to have extensive and relevant water network technical and analytical experience as well as a high level of technical knowledge to ensure continued quality of outputs; knowledge of the regulatory framework in which the business operates is important to maintain compliance with all legislative and regulatory standards.

You'll also:

  • Be proactive and confident in dealing with a wider team, with a proven ability to manage own workload and work on own initiative to strict deadlines
  • Demonstrate a high level of competence in analytical reasoning, numeracy, IT literacy, effective manipulation of data and communication skills and the ability to identify, develop and drive through solutions to a wide range of technical and analytical problems
  • Display well-developed motivation, teamwork and communication skills. The ability to build good working relationships and to influence and persuade people to deliver their actions, and / or provide the required information on time is essential
  • Have proven technical knowledge of relevant Business systems, including INS, Aquavista, Water Quality Infobank, OMS, and STS
  • Have working knowledge of the MS suite of applications, and more specifically must be a competent user of Excel
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of delivering improved productivity and/or high standards of performance
  • Have a high degree of resilience to cope with the daily demands on time and resources
