Based in our state-of-the-art head office in Tolworth, our Network & Security team is continuing to expand and we are now seeking a Network Engineer to support and administer our 1000 UK sites.
Our IT department at Lidl GB plays a crucial role in our international success. In our Head Office alone, we have over 100 colleagues managing and supporting our IT landscape and driving innovation forward. You will be involved in BAU as well as focused on implementing Lidl GB and International projects, contributing towards the technical specification, design, implementation, support and documentation from start to finish.
The ideal candidate will be a Network Engineer with broad network experience, capable of supporting a large and complex network (Cisco, Huawei, Fortinet) and understanding the impact of changes across the network.
We have moved to a hybrid working model with a recommended 2 days in the office per week for appropriate Head Office and Regional roles, empowering our teams to choose how and where they work best. We feel it is important that, where possible, we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible and trust our teams to determine the right environments that work most effectively for them.
What you'll do
- Install, maintain and support Lidl GB network equipment and infrastructure
- Implement network automation solutions
- Rollout and implementation of projects
- Carry out software hardware and configuration updates
- Change control (CAB) and task scheduling
- Maintain and report SLA and KPI where specified
- Monitor and resolve departmental incident management tickets at 2nd/3rd level
- Produce problem reports and escalations where necessary
- Update and maintain network documentation and procedures
- Follow Lidl best practice and procedures
- Provide remunerated “Out of Hours Support” on a scheduled rotation
What you'll need
- Experience supporting a large multi-site network is essential
- Experience supporting and configuring Cisco LAN and WAN products is essential
- Experience supporting and configuring Huawei LAN and WLAN products is highly desirable
- Experience of supporting and configuring Fortinet FortiGate firewalls and FortiManager is highly desirable
- Experience of network automation technologies such as Python, Rundeck or Ansible is highly desirable
- Experience of supporting and configuring WAN & VPN technologies such as SDWAN & DMVPN is highly desirable
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to create and maintain high quality documentation
- Able to work as part of a team with good interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated and with good problem-solving ability
- Ability to manage faults with third party engineers
- Demonstrate initiative and problem ownership/escalation
- Full UK Driving Licence is desirable
