Network Engineer

Network Engineer - GBP400-GBP450 per day - Outside IR35 - Primarily remote - Part time - 2 days per week.
My client, a prestigious engineering organisation working towards zero carbon energy, is looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join them on a contract basis. The role will be on a 2 days/16 hours per week basis.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in Palo Alto firewall management and configuration via Panorama, preferably within the Azure environment. Additionally, proficiency in Active Directory and AD Certificate Services is essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities:

• Manage and configure Palo Alto firewalls via Panorama, particularly within Azure environments.
• Perform rule changes, application and traffic inspection, and troubleshoot connectivity issues in collaboration with application and infrastructure teams.
• Ensure backup and recovery procedures for Palo Alto firewalls are understood and implemented effectively.
• Optimize firewall utilization and provide ongoing consultancy on firewall security and configuration.
• Document existing AD certificate configuration and implement solutions to automate certificate issuance to domain-joined servers.
• Support the creation and installation of certificates on relevant devices.
• Create OUs and Group Policies within Active Directory, understanding the impact of policy changes on user and device configuration.
• Document AD configurations and troubleshoot in conjunction with application and infrastructure teams.

Requirements:

• Significant experience in Network Engineering, with a focus on Palo Alto firewalls, Active Directory, and AD Certificate Services.
• Proficiency in Palo Alto firewall management and configuration via Panorama, preferably within Azure environments.
• Strong understanding of Active Directory and AD Certificate Services.
• Experience with rule changes, traffic inspection, and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
• Ability to optimize firewall utilization and provide consultancy on firewall security.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Palo Alto Networks certifications (PCNSA, PCNSE)
• Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
