You'll be part of BT's PSN Networking Team, interfacing with Network Design, Infrastructure and Project Teams in a busy dynamic environment.
We're looking for an experienced and dependable (Cisco) Network Engineer who's able to own complex network configuration projects and Incident resolution. The role involves building and maintaining our Data Centre Network services and solutions to high levels of quality and Security.
Skills
- Experienced in managing, supporting, delivering and Securing complex IT Networks
- Will typically be qualified to CCNA level
- Practical experience within a large LAN/WAN Network environment, and ideally Data Centre is highly desirable
- Strong demonstrable knowledge of Cisco routing and switching particularly VPN, DMVPN, cryptography (IPSec), BGP, EIGRP, OSPF
- Strong knowledge of Network security practices and techniques
- Experienced in the use of Network tools such as Splunk, Entuity, TSNA and analysers such as Wireshark
- Ability to produce and maintain high quality Network diagrams and documentation
- Experienced working in a large enterprise delivering multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience in managing, supporting and securing Data Networks in a policing or Government environment
- Awareness of PSN and government security standards
- Good knowledge of Firewalls
- Experience in Network automation techniques
- Experience in Cloud deployments/support
- The role requires you attain and maintain Security clearance NPPV3 & SC
- The role requires 1-in-4 week 24/7 On-Call rota
What you’ll be doing
- Undertake a range of (Cisco) Networking Infrastructure installations and configuration for complex and high business impact solutions in a Secure environment
- Configure core infrastructure routers and switches
- Pro-active monitoring using a range of Network tools
- Perform technical refresh of hardware
- L3 Troubleshooting and resolution of business-critical issues/Incidents both in and out-of-hours (On-call rota)
- Perform vulnerability impact assessments, surveys and patching of large and complex networks to mitigate against security threats
- Maintain network security to exacting standards
