This role has a starting salary of GBP38,746 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week.

About the Role

Are you able to understand to assist with resolving IT issues and want to work as part of a supportive team? A Network & Security Engineer position with Surrey County Council might be the perfect opportunity for you!
As a third line support team, we are here to support other IT staff and customers while they work in a flexible and agile way. Our large IT & Digital department supports customers across Surrey County Council while working closely with our Orbis Partners in East Sussex County Council and Brighton and Hove City Council.
You will need to record all work, keep customers informed of their service requests, prioritise your own workload, set customer expectations, and work as part of a team to achieve your targets and objectives. You will provide an efficient and effective support of the network and security environment and back-office infrastructure to the County Council.
Shortlisting Criteria
To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:
- Understanding of network environment(s) with good hardware and software skills especially with Cisco products and IPT solutions.
- Understanding of network management tools for monitoring and configuration management, especially the Solarwinds products.
- Understanding of Firewall setup, configuration, and management.
- Understanding of Wireless networking, physical working, cable standards, and racking.
- Understanding of IP addressing and subnetting, network devices physically and virtually linked.
- Good interpersonal skills and analytical thinking, self-motivated and having the ability to learn new skills.
