Major Recruitment are seeking a dedicated NPD Manager for client, aa leading family-run food production business with a rich 190-year legacy.
This role will be to lead the NPD department for Leeds, Consett and Millerdale, ensuring business process is adhered to but also creates the opportunity for NPD to support the business strategy in proactive development whether it be through NPD or unlocking profitability through product efficiency. This role will also involve working closely with several functions across the business as well as external suppliers and customers.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure One Team approach through 2 sites by providing effective communication on business strategy and priorities.
- Manage the Product Development department and kitchen ensuring procedures are implemented and adhered to.
- Lead the Product Development team, ensuring clear development plans and mentoring is provided.
- Oversee multiple projects with the team to ensure business deadlines are achieved.
- To support the NPD Team in developing new and existing recipes from concept to launch which entails:
- Recipe development in the test kitchen in-line with a prepared brief or sample request including nutrition calculation, allergen review and adherence to relevant policies.
- Presentation of products to customers and internal teams
- Sourcing any new ingredients and specifications
- Organisation and supervision of product trials and the paperwork required for this
- Provision of product specification details
- Setting up and review of New Product shelf life
- Competitor benchmarking and quality panels
- Quality standard generation
- Product launches and product handover to production and technical
- Staying close to food and consumer trends and innovation through various channels, including working other teams
- Maintain efficiency for the business through ingredients and recipe rationalisation
- Cross functional working with key stakeholders to unlock cost savings from testing costs through to Product Development
- Contribute in all areas where necessary to ensure the department runs smoothly and effectively.
- Ensure that all Company quality parameters and procedures are complied with and that all products manufactured meet the required standards and specifications.
- Work as part of a team with technical and production to ensure smooth running of product launches and critical paths.
- Protect the health, safety and welfare of yourself and others at all times.
- Take an active role in continuous personal develop through self-development activities and/or through attending Company organised training and development opportunities.
- Be flexible and help other teams within Product Development as required and take an active role in specific projects as directed by your line manager.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as may from time to time be required by the Company.
- Ensure that the Company is professionally always represented, both inside and outside the business.
