If you are in your third year of practice and are starting to think about your career as a Newly Qualified Social Worker (NQSW), Neath Port Talbot (NPT) could be where your next adventure begins! Here at NPT we take pride in the ongoing professional development of our workforce and offer excellent opportunities for professional growth, experience and progression. We are looking for enthusiastic, passionate, and dedicated NQSWs to join our workforce as we continue to work in a strengths based, outcomes focussed model of practice.
In our Children and Young People’s Service we like to pride ourselves on being a service that strives for excellence, promotes a learning culture and supports its employees to achieve their potential by incorporating a comprehensive induction programme, providing regular supervision, and facilitating ongoing training and development with opportunities for progression throughout the service. Our service has a dedicated training department to support NQSWs in sharing learning from best practice and facilitates working groups, such as the First Three Years in Practice Group and the Practice Improvement Group. NQSWs will also be supported through their CPEL by our training department. Every team has a dedicated and stable management structure, as well as consultant Social Workers, to ensure that all NQSWs are supported in their learning and development. As well as regular, formal supervision, all NQSWs will also benefit from having a named mentor within the team who will support them on an informal basis by offering shadowing opportunities, engaging in reflective practice and offering guidance on cases. Social work caseloads in NPT remain among the lowest in the country, allowing our practitioners the scope to spend quality time with families and work alongside them to achieve positive outcomes.
In NPT Children’s Services we have several teams which offer a range of opportunities and experiences including: a Single Point of Contact Team (Intake Team); four Community Children’s Team; a Looked After Children Team; an After Care Team; a Childcare Disability Team; a Fostering Team; and a Youth Justice and Early Intervention Service. We also have a number of in-house support services who provide additional, early intervention and prevention provisions to families including: Team Around the Family, Family Action Support Team, Working Together Service and a Therapeutic Support Team for children who are looked after
We recognize the importance of staff wellbeing in NPT and so promote and encourage flexible hybrid working arrangements to ensure all employees benefit from having a work/life balance. We also have a Health and Well-being Group with a staff lottery and associated discounts, discounted gym membership, cycle to work scheme, an electric car scheme and an annual leave purchase scheme. We can offer you secure employment with a competitive salary and generous terms and conditions including 25 days annual leave (rising to 32 days after 5 years continuous service) plus 2 extra days at Christmas, pension scheme and sick pay scheme.
