Salary: £33,966 to £36,024 with progression to £44,263 per annum

The Role

 

Newcastle Health Innovation Partners (NHIP) https://www.newcastlehealthinnovation.org/  is seeking to appoint a Training Manager for the NHIP Academy following successful accreditation of NHIP as an Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC) in April 2020. The AHSC sets a legacy of academic and clinical excellence for the North East and North Cumbria. The NHIP organisations are: 
•    Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
•    Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust 
•    Newcastle University 
•    Academic Health Science Network for the North East and North Cumbria 
•    Newcastle City Council 


Background: 
Health and care academic career development is a major focus of NHIP. The creation of the NHIP Academy represents a flagship part of the whole NHIP programme. The NHIP Academy brings together the academic career development activity of all the NHIP partners with a vision to support the careers of the next generation of health and care researchers. The NHIP Academy has 4 “pillars” which are programmes in Public Health & Social Care, Medicine & Dentistry, Nursing, Midwifery & Allied Health Professions, and Research Methodology. Each pillar has inspirational leadership from field experts with a passion for career development. NHIP Academy supports those who are on or aspire to be on a health-related career development pathway. This includes developing the undergraduate-research interface, supporting researchers at the pre-doctoral stage through to research independence and Chair.

 

You will work closely with the Director and Academy Manager and ensure operational aspects of the NHIP Academy training, outreach and engagement activities are delivered in accordance with the Academy’s strategic priorities. 


This is a fixed term appointment until the end of March 2025 and could be available to existing University colleagues as a secondment.  You should discuss this with your current manager before submitting your application.

Key Accountabilities

•    Act as the main point of contact for all NHIP related training enquiries and build up a knowledge base of local and national training priorities and sign-posts

•    Working with the Academy Manager, Pillar and appropriate Training Leads, plan and coordinate a programme of workshops, seminars and events focused on training and career development

•    Prepare progress reports, success case studies and other performance indicators across the training remit

•    Work with colleagues in other parts of NHIP associated infrastructure to develop synergy, joint working and shared activity that will support the delivery of the NHIP Academy strategic priorities

•    Create and manage a network of ‘training’ contacts and actively promote local and national training opportunities

•    Working with the Academy Manager and NHIP Communication team maintain and update training aspects of the NHIP website and manage associated training communications through social media and publicity material

•    Manage a complex network of relations across the NHIP associated training programmes

•    Support the wider delivery of the NHIP Academy as directed by the NHIP Director, Deputy Director, Academy Manager and Pillar Leads


The Person


Knowledge Skills & Experience 

•    Experience of a HEI, NHS or Local Authority setting with a good grasp of the sector landscape
•    Demonstrably led and delivered projects on their own initiative involving multiple stakeholders and cultures
•    Exceptional communication and influencing skills, including strong listening skills to achieve positive outcomes
•    Experience of event organisation and/or workshop development
•    Ability to adapt and be comfortable and responsive to (changing) context and organisational change
•    Capability to work effectively across organisational boundaries and with different professional groups to support the vision of the Academy
•    Excellent IT skills, including competent use of Microsoft Office
•    Knowledge of Academic Training pathways (desirable)

•    Qualified to Degree level (Postgraduate desirable) and /or with relevant management and leadership experience
