As a NightPropulsion Test Technician, you will be involved in the set‐up and delivery of powertrain testing projects in both Milton Keynes facilities. Projects will include electric propulsion, combustion engines, transmissions, and hybrid systems.
ABOUT THE COMPANY
Intertek’s TT-UK has two laboratories, both based in Milton Keynes. Tanners Drive specialises in combustion engine, transmission, and complete powertrain testing services. The second laboratory, in Davy Avenue specialises in electric vehicle propulsion systems testing services, covering electric motors, full integrated axle modules and complete vehicles. This is one of the fastest growing businesses in Intertek, more than doubling in size every two years since 2015.
ABOUT YOU
As a Night Propulsion Test Technician, you will be able to work autonomously, to adapt and apply learning and pick up new skills at pace.
Required skills:
- Engine testing experience
- Vocational qualification or equivalent in a mechanical or electrical engineering discipline is desirable, but extensive experience will also be considered
- Proven Powertrain and/or Vehicle component fitting skills
- Maintaining clear and traceable documentation
- Use of suitable hand and power tools for manual tasks
- Strong H&S awareness and understanding (detailed electrical safety training will be provided)
Beneficial skills and experience:
- Practical knowledge of vehicle systems
- Powertrain systems testing knowledge (Engines/Transmissions/EV/Hybrid)
- Experience of EV powertrain or Hybrid system test operations
- Knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems
- Welding / fabrication
- PC literate
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Day to day work includes mechanical and electrical rigging, fitting and operating test systems as well as general engineering tasks in the workshop. You will be supporting Propulsion Test programmes on a shift pattern.
Key Responsibilities:
· Conduct fitting work and testing on engines, EV, transmissions, hybrid systems or
components in line with project requirements and ensure tests conform to customer
instructions
- Responsible for operation of multiple test rigs using defined test methods and scripts
- Execution of test and development activities, including reporting
- Help to implement and follow safe systems of work
- Maintain test bed files and all relevant forms, data sheets and logbooks
- Follow procedures for the booking out of store items and help to manage stock or
consumable items where appropriate
- Ensure all instrumentation used is calibrated in line with company procedures
- Complete time sheets in accordance with company and project procedures
- Take responsibility for 5S and workplace organisation activities in the assigned areas and
keep the building clean and tidy and in good decorative order
Based at Milton Keynes, MK14. Full time. Permanent. Full Time. Alternating shift pattern. Weekends are not compulsory.
22:00-06:00, 5 nights of the week. Salary offering will depend on experience but will include a 35% shift allowance.
