We have an exciting opportunity to join Gentoo Young Persons team in the role of Night Support Worker. In this key role, you will be responsible for promoting the physical safety and wellbeing of the young people living at Holmewood House, our 24-hour temporary supported accommodation service for vulnerable young people aged 16-21.
Whilst on duty, you will promote and facilitate activities within Holmewood, encouraging and supporting the young people to become involved and participate. You will ensure the safety of the young people by controlling access to the building and assisting them in gaining specialist support in the event of an emergency. To ensure a clean and tidy environment, you will develop and implement excellent standards of housekeeping at all times. You will assist the Supported Manger in the reviewing of processes and procedures to ensure continuous improvement of service, whilst maintaining records and completing necessary documentation in accordance with service delivery standards. You will also provide effective handovers to your colleagues to ensure the high level of support to the young people is maintained.
This is a rewarding role that delivers a sensitive service, responding to the needs of the individual, whilst empowering them to avoid breaches in their housing agreements. You will be pivotal in supporting the young people to live well and move on to independent living, enabling you to build a career to be proud of. This role requires you to remain awake and vigilant throughout night shifts, including your breaks. Your shifts will be allocated on a rota basis and will include nightshifts Monday to Sunday, weekend dayshifts and bank holidays as required.

The role is subject to an enhanced DBS paid for by Gentoo.
What we are looking for:
The successful candidate will have experience of working with young and/or vulnerable people and be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the needs and current issues surrounding these groups. They will have outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly build rapport with service users and external stakeholders. With excellent communication skills, they will work well within a team as well as being able to work independently using their own initiative. They must work well under pressure and show resilience when dealing with challenging situations.
