HSBC UK Bank plc (“HSBC UK”), a wholly owned subsidiary of HSBC Holdings plc, headquartered in Birmingham, is an integral part of one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organisations with approximately 15 million active customers and 18,500 employees. HSBC UK was created in 2018, to meet the ring-fencing requirements in the Financial Services (Banking Reform) Act 2013.
As part of HSBC UK’s ongoing succession planning, the Board intends to appoint up to three non-executive Directors throughout the course of 2024 and 2025, to bring a variety of skills and experiences to the Boardroom.
Successful candidates will be intellectually able, with strong strategic and commercial acumen, able to win the respect of fellow Board members and the regulators. Open, collaborative and approachable in style, the successful candidates will engage constructively and broadly around the Board table and be prepared to invest time to understand the business and become strong Boardroom contributors. Candidates will ideally have experience within highly-regulated sectors and will have been exposed to Board Committees in their executive or non-executive career.
The successful candidates may have a variety of the following skills and experiences:
At least one candidate will ideally have financial services risk expertise and familiarity with risk management and compliance, within the financial services sector; ideally with the ability and desire to chair one of the Board Committees in time;At least one candidate will be a seasoned and experienced non-executive Director;Organisational leadership experience, with an understanding of leading a large corporate company through business transformation; andFamiliarity with policymaking and regulatory process. In the role as a non-executive Director of HSBC UK, there is an expected time commitment of 35 days per annum. The time commitment is subject to periodic review and (if needed) adjustment by the Board. Additional time may be required on an ad hoc basis and when performing additional duties such as the membership or chairmanship of a Board committee.
