Job Description
JOB TITLE: Quality Engineer (Non-Functional Testing Lead)
SALARY: £68,202 - £75,780
LOCATION: Manchester
HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in an office site

We are seeking a skilled and expert Non-Functional Testing Lead to join our diverse team who operate in an Agile project environment, within our product labs .
Driving transformation in quality engineering, play a key role in leading Non-Functional Testing , crafting and implementing the Test strategy and delivering quality software solutions into production, understand the importance of testing and the Quality Framework within LBG, educate other change disciplines and driving agile adoption, in teams as part of the broader engineering community from cultural aspects of agile to adoption of collaboration tools.
Be a driving force within a team helping to renew our legacy technology applications onto a more modern architecture. Integrating new cloud technology into legacy systems.

What you’ll need
  • Able to demonstrate your leadership, coaching and mentoring more junior Engineers to create a highly effective testing capability and ability to collaborate and contribute to wider initiatives whilst working independently to deliver core tasks.
  • Experience, and good understanding of, building efficient and effective testing process and practices (both functional and non-functional) .
  • Ability to develop and demonstrate Non-functional Test strategy for complex systems .
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g., OCP, GCP, Azure) and associated services .
  • Expertise in Load Testing, Stress, Soak, Endurance, availability, capacity, and Failover (Software & Hardware) testing .
  • Experience analysing performance test results and evaluating/troubleshooting performance bottlenecks across of distributed multi-tier architecture, Mongo DB systems including:
    • Thread / Heap Dump Analysis
    • JVM monitoring & Tuning
    • Proven experience with one or more of the following monitoring tools:
    • Splunk
    • Dynatrace

  • Expertise in designing, building, and executing performance tests using the following tools:
    • HP Performance Centre and HP Load Runner
    • JMeter and Gatling beneficial
    • Proficient developing tests using programming languages like Unix shell scripting, Javascript or Python or Java etc.

  • Experience successfully testing server/client-side applications/services/cloud hosted applications including:
    • SOAP APIs, REST APIs, Graph APIs
    • Web and Mobile app Presentation layers
    • Kafka Topics
    • Ability to articulate performance issues, risks, bottlenecks, and socialise the performance vision and high-level solution including workload details

  • Experience in other non-functional testing areas Security, Accessibility Testing, Compatibility testing, Disaster recovery testing and Operational Acceptance testing techniques.
  • Previous experience with DevOps practices and tools.
