Due to increasing demand for our innovative Autism Service we are now looking for committed and passionate Nurse Autism Practitioners to join our team. This is a permanent post supporting the MDT in the delivery of effective clinical services through assessment, formulation and ongoing support to children, young people and families accessing Caudwell Children services. Full-time and part-time positions can be considered.
You will work clinically as part of the MDT that includes Psychologists, Learning Disability Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Paediatricians, Clinical Assistants, Assistant Psychologists and charity volunteers.
Main Duties:
Provide enhanced clinical support to the family support team in relation to families and children accessing the clinical services.
Support ADOS and ADI-R assessments with children on the Autism Service pathway.
Deliver a range of workshops to adults and children in relation to ASD approaches and support.
Communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of children and families accessing the clinical pathway and to monitor progress during the course of multi-disciplinary care.
Undertake clinical work with individuals and groups providing advice, resources and strategies, as appropriate, using specialist skills and autism specific approaches where required.
Where necessary, undertake risk assessments and risk management for children and their families and to provide advice to other professions on aspects of risk assessment and risk management.
To coordinate, where appropriate, the intervention plans in respect of children, taking responsibility for initiating planning and reviewing progress with children, their carers, referring agents and others involved in their network of care.
Contribute to the development of the multi-disciplinary team.
As part of the team engage actively in practice development, evaluation, audit and research activities to inform evidence based practice.
Provide mentorship and clinical supervision for practice education placements.
Where appropriate, share and disseminate research findings with professional colleagues in the interests of practice development.
Ensure compliance and completion of CPD activities.
Work collaboratively with all members of the MDT sharing information as appropriate.

Essential Criteria
Evidence of registration with the NMC in mental health, learning disability and/or child branch
Experience of teaching, delivering training and/or supervision
Experience in the assessment and diagnosis of autism
Experience of undertaking standardised formal assessments
Formulation and implementation of appropriate interventions/strategies
Experience of delivering training to a range of audiences using a variety of complex multi-media materials suitable for presentations within public, professional and academic settings
Knowledge of a range of neurodevelopmental disorders
Familiarity with PBS values and approaches
Knowledge of statutory/mandatory training requirements
Understanding of evidence based practice
Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the organisation
Skills in effective report writing and the interpretation of test results
Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups
Excellent team working and communication skills
Excellent time management and organisational skills

Basic IT and keyboard skills
