Your future is here

A place to thrive

Being part of Nottingham College means playing a vital part in helping thousands of people reach their potential. Together, we’re making a positive difference to our learners, to our communities and to each other. We’re building better futures, for others and for ourselves. Here, you’ll have the freedom to work in a way that suits you, the support to thrive and the opportunity to shape your career.

Who we need

To report to and work alongside the Senior Nursery Manager. The Early Years sector is fast-paced and ever-changing. We welcome candidates with skills that encompass a unique blend of managerial know-how, multitasking abilities, strong communication and an understanding of child development. You need to be confident in your abilities, decision-making skills and be able to move the team forward. Key duties include:

  • To manage a well-established nursery team based on a college campus.
  • To motivate and get the best from staff through supervision and PDR’s and know what makes the team unique.
  • To promote the nursery vision and curriculum intent and have a full overview of the setting, supporting all children to become the best learners they can be and ‘future ready’.
  • Maintain all current operational monitoring systems relating to attendance and occupancy, fees and funding streams. This may be daily or monthly.
  • Attend and hold regular meetings with the Senior Nursery Manager and team to ensure a full team approach in running the setting together.
  • Be responsible for and have a good awareness of dealing with any Safeguarding or Child Protection concerns and liaising with other agencies in relation to children with SEND.

What you’ll bring

You will be an experienced manager and practitioner, being able to communicate clearly and concisely with staff members, parents, children, and other agencies and departments within the college. You will confidently have the overall day to day management responsibility for the nursery. You will ensure the nursery always meets Ofsted requirements, by the standards and practice the nursery will provide.

  • To ensure all staff understand and work to nursery and college policies and procedures, including who to report to and how to deal with safeguarding and child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies
  • To organise and participate in the key person system by completing supervisions and PDR’s as appropriate and to identify staff training needs.
  • To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the nursery and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parents’ involvement through newsletters.
  • To ensure that the nursery provides a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times, in relation to health and safety at all times.
  • To work in partnership with the Senior Nursery Manager to provide the best quality and care we can for the children and families we support.
