Job description
We are looking for an enthusiastic band 5 Occupational Therapist with an interest in working with adults with a learning disability to join our service. You will be based in the Monmouthshire community learning disability team in Abergavenny, but will gain experience of working in our neighbouring team in Blaenau Gwent. You will receive regular supervision, and a variety of opportunities for continuing professional development, including our preceptorship programme for newly qualified Occupational Therapists.

We are keen to recruit an Occupational Therapist that is ready to work in an occupational therapy service that is actively developing and changing to meet the needs of the people that we serve.
We are looking for a qualified Occupational Therapist with knowledge and experience of working with people with learning disabilities. The post holder will be responsible for providing Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention in community and inpatient settings, utilising assessment and evaluation tools drawn from the Model of Human Occupation. Your practice will be person centred and focus on supporting and enabling the person to achieve their goals in self-care, productivity and leisure. As part of the multi-disciplinary team your assessments will be essential in informing and planning positive outcomes for service users.
The post holder will work alongside a band 6 Occupational Therapist and occupational therapy technicians, through 1:1 and group work in community and inpatient settings. There are regular occupational therapy meetings and opportunities for clinical and professional development, supervision and yearly appraisal.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
