The Medicine & Surgery Occupational Therapy team is a generalist team that is committed to using specialist skills and knowledge to deliver high quality person-centred assessment, treatment and rehabilitation to our patients whilst optimising patient flow within the acute setting. We expect team members to work hard and contribute to a positive and inclusive team culture that supports high performance. Learning opportunities include: vascular amputee management, wheelchair provision, prosthetic rehab, long stay rehab (including upper limb assessment and rehab), working with patients with complex psycho-social presentations including drug and alcohol addiction and homelessness. Our involvement in amputee rehab provides the unique opportunity in the acute setting of carrying out regular access and discharge visits which requires us to use core OT skills and gives us the opportunity to work alongside specialist outpatient teams to deliver high quality rehab and care. We have close working relationships with specialist OT colleagues in other teams and regularly access their specialist skills, which creates opportunities for joint working and learning and development. We share an office with our physio colleagues and other OT teams and are committed to working collaboratively across professions and teams.
