This role is subject to:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy and registration with HCPC
  • Driving Licence – you must always hold a full valid driving licence
  • Essential Car Documentation- This post is a designated Essential Car User. Therefore, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work. You will receive the Essential Car User Allowance.
  • DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance - this post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Appointable candidates will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Information provided by you or the DBS will be dealt with in a confidential manner and in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice which can be viewed here. We have a policy on the Employment of Ex-Offenders and it is available upon request.
 We are looking for a dynamic, passionate individual who wants to make a real difference to the quality of life of Manchester’s residents and will lead the Occupational Therapists within the Reablement service and Adult Early Support/front door Team (AEST).
 
 The successful candidate will: 
  • Effectively lead, manage and motivate a team of Occupational Therapists and be responsible for the quality assurance of work in line with appropriate frameworks including appraisals, training, development and performance management.  
  • Be key in improving outcomes for citizens/families and provide strong management direction including professional consultation, performance management and continuous service improvement to proactively achieve priorities.
  • Be responsible for the delivery of impactful therapy interventions to enable people to remain independent within their local communities and ensuring the provision of a high quality standard of service.
  • Work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to maintain best practice and effective partnership working between critical agencies; promote skill development and knowledge acquisition; first class customer responsiveness and a commitment to positive outcomes for vulnerable people.
  • Be imperative in developing the OT role, processes and pathways within both services

The candidate will require drive and be motivated to manage a busy team to deliver high-quality services to our Manchester Residents.

They need to be organised and have excellent oral communication and written skills and be able to complete comprehensive reports in a timely and efficient manner and be able to successfully manage team targets and be performance driven.

The candidate should have experience of moving and handling, adaptations, equipment, assistive technology and functional assessment; and have a substantial understanding of relevant social care and disability legislation.  They will also demonstrate competent management and leadership skills.
