Job description

RWE Renewables UK Management Ltd.

To start as soon as possible, full time, permanent

Functional area: Operations & Maintenance

We have an exciting opportunity for an Operations & Maintenance Commercial Modelling Analyst to join the Offshore Operations team at RWE, which develops O&M strategies in support of global offshore wind farm developments.

The analyst will support O&M experts in optimising O&M strategies by calculating the resources required to deliver different scenarios, the resulting levels of turbine availability (for revenue forecasting) and the associated O&M costs.

The role is a hybrid technical and commercial one, and would suit someone equally interested in spending time developing modelling tools as they are in using them to provide support to projects.

Role description

  • You will be joining a friendly and diverse team of modellers, which is expanding due to continued success and increasing demand for modelling support from RWE’s growing pipeline of offshore wind projects
  • The team use in-house developed modelling tools, and the role will initially involve learning and using these to provide modelling support to projects, followed by the development of the models themselves once sufficient experience has been gained
  • In supporting projects, you will perform detailed logistics, cost and risk modelling of various proposals, the output of which will then inform recommendations for optimised O&M strategies
  • The role is a great stepping stone into the exciting world of renewable energy and offshore wind generation, and will give you plenty of opportunities to present to senior managers

Required skills and experience

  • Relevant degree level qualification, preferably in an engineering, economics or similarly numerically based subject
  • Extensive Excel and Python skills, with the use of other modelling tools such as VBA, HTML and Microsoft Azure cloud services a distinct advantage
  • Analytical and detail conscious (you like to understand the drivers behind why numbers have changed)
  • Ability to work well as part of a team, and to challenge the work of others in an effective but collaborative manner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to present numerical information in a clear and concise way to other stakeholders
  • Experience of working with complex cost or financial models would be beneficial
  • An understanding of the electricity market in the UK and challenges that face the renewable energy industry a bonus
  • Postgraduate qualification in a renewable energy related subject a bonus

We have offices in Swindon, Coventry, London and Athens, with the flexibility to work from home when required.  There will be a requirement to work from our Swindon or Athens office at least once per week.

Applicants must have a permanent right to work in the UK or Greece.
