Job Title: ON-TRAIN - CONDUCTOR
Location: Perth
Salary: £37,553 per annum on completion of training & 5% individual commission. During training, which may last up to 6 months, the trainee salary is £23,045 per annum.
Training: The initial part of the training, which will likely take place in Glasgow, will include induction, customer service, commercial skills, conductor rules, first aid, fire safety, disability awareness and conflict management - will be professionally delivered to give you all the tools to need to master this surprisingly varied and interesting job.
Contract: Permanent
Hours: FULL-TIME 35-hour week.
5 days per week. Various shifts & weekend working.
Monday - Sunday earliest start time 04.19 latest finishing time 01.00 hours.
Job Description:

• Safety in the rail industry is paramount and in the role of conductor you are responsible for the safety of customers on board our trains.
• You will carry our regular operational checks on train and at intermediate stations, you will also deal with any unexpected and/or emergency situations as they arise.
• Conductors patrol the train and are on hand to provide customers with information and support relating to their journey.
• They will help customers who may need special attention or assistance.
• They also ensure that all customers have valid travel tickets via full ticket checks and issuing tickets where necessary, handle cash and process payment card transactions.
• They are responsible for communicating customer safety and journey information via regular public address announcements.
• This role will involve assisting passengers with disabilities to board and alight trains and could involve the use of a portable ramp which weighs up to 15kg, the portable ramp may be required to be carried the full length of a train.

Selection process: Microsoft Teams Interview and Selected candidates will be invited to sit online assessment & attend classroom assessment. If successful, the next stage will be interview. The final stage for successful candidates will be a medical examination and drugs/alcohol screening.
Appointees must submit at least two satisfactory references, Disclosure Scotland clearance and complete a six-month probation period.
