Salary: £35,142 - £40,246 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role is a development opportunity to join the Operations Logistics team as the Assistant Materials Manager. The role is to support the Material Manager to manage inventory and purchasing orders of materials and other supplies used in our SSEN Transmission Business. The successful candidate will report to the Transmission Operations Logistics Manager.

The role is to enhance the current warehousing and material management to the Transmission Operations field teams. This role will also engage with external and internal project teams and suppliers to ensure sufficient spares are held in stock based on the technical designs, network risks, spares availability and lead times.

To help meet our ambitious net-zero targets the role will also help manage the waste management processes interfacing with the sustainability and environmental teams within the Transmission and wider SSE Group staff.

The key responsibilities of an Operations Assistant Material Manager are:

- Collaborate with Project and Operations managers to determine spares needs with RIIO-T2 period and beyond.

- Support Material Manager with Purchase orders and materials according to specifications.

- Assist with the spares forecasting to plan future orders for the RIIO-T3 Business plan.

- Maximise re-use of excess materials/plant. Coordinate with SHE Transmission project teams on efficient use of previously installed materials.(Decommissioned Plant).

- Keep detailed records on procurement activity, materials quantity, specifications, history etc. Carry out inventory checks and undertake stock discrepancies activity to reconcile inventory records.

- Takes steps to avoid quality control issues. Ensures all materials are stored in accordance with manufacturers and SHET specifications and co-ordinate all waste management for Transmission Operations ensuring compliance with SSE waste management policies.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- I/T Knowledge with some experience of Inventory Management Systems.

- Financial awareness.

- Good verbal and written communication skills.
