A top100 law firm are currently looking for an Operations Compliance officer to join their team. This new role in the Professional Ethics and Compliance (PE&C) team focuses on ensuring third-party products and services align with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards. The role involves collaboration with external providers and internal stakeholders to maintain compliance, supporting the firm's objectives.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting fee earners and business services staff with inquiries about new third-party services, available products, and internal compliance procedures (e.g., due diligence and DPIAs).
Collaborating with the Project Management Office (PMO), Head of Transformation, and Multi-Party Action teams to launch and monitor new products/services, including reviewing changes to terms of service.
Reviewing and advising on compliance terms in new contracts and maintaining a register to monitor supplier compliance with obligations related to data security, anti-bribery provisions, and proactively overseeing action plans to enhance standards.
Providing guidance to departments and teams on statutory and regulatory changes affecting their current and future service and product requirements.
Assisting the Data Protection Officer (DPO) in implementing information security and GDPR requirements.
Developing reports for regular compliance reporting, measuring adherence to procedures post-project launch and on an ongoing basis.
Proactively collaborating with various teams in the firm to ensure continuous monitoring of products and procedures.
Working with the PMO and IT team to develop compliant processes and workflows when engaging with third parties and their systems.
Collaborating with the Learning & Development team and IT training teams on compliance training needs.
 
The ideal candidate should have previous legal services experience, project management skills, knowledge of regulatory codes, data protection laws, excellent communication, and IT proficiency.  The successful candidate will have operations experience (Third party management, data protection or query handling experience).
