Operations Director Job in South East London
An Operations Director job is now available with a design practice in London. The successful candidate will have proven experience evaluating companies’ performance, business procedures and implementing new policies. You will lead by example and have a keen eye for detail. Salary of circa £90,000 DOE.
This design studio has over ten years of experience working across a variety of projects including residential, commercial, and BTR developments. Their services include interior design, FF&E, furnishing and procurement for private clients and developers.
They are now looking for a highly organised and driven individual to oversee all operational aspects of the business. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of successfully setting and executing strategic goals within similar businesses. Role & Responsibilities
- Evaluating overall company performance by setting effective company and personal OKR’s/KPI’s
- Developing data and metrics to demonstrate success
- Evaluating the efficiency of business procedures, agreeing organisational objectives and applying improvements
- Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure that business objectives are met
- Acting as the company’s main adviser on all issues relating to operational functions, keeping abreast of competitor activity, latest industry trends and any potential threats to ensure that the company maintains its competitive position
- Mapping risk and opportunity for the business, based on competitor insights and the macro environment
- Developing and controlling operational budgets to promote profitability
- Ensuring the company has all the resources required to meet its objectives within agreed financial parameters
- Overseeing all necessary policies and procedures to ensure safe and healthy working environments across all company locations
- Liaising with the Board to make decisions for operational activities and set strategic goals
- Managing staff from different departments, providing constructive feedback and implementing changes to maximise business efficiencies
- Promoting a positive work atmosphere across the business and supporting the teams’ development
- Monitoring and improving communication across the company
- Overseeing procurement and logistical processes and seek efficiencies
- Acting as the senior point of contact for clients on all operational elements, ensuring that deliverables are met and that clients are satisfied with the quality of services
- Overseeing contracts, ensuring that obligations are properly communicated and deliverables are met
- Taking lead on all new tenders; allocating responsibilities, managing process and timescales, and ensuring all deliverables are met
- Overseeing client support processes and organising them to enhance client satisfaction
- Attending project sites from time to time across the UK.
Required Skills & Experience
- 15+ years’ experience, with a minimum of 5 years’ as an Ops. Director or similar role
- Interest in design and knowledge of industry’s legal rules and guidelines would be beneficial but not essential
- Excellent organisational and leadership abilities
- Outstanding communication and people skills
- In depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles
- Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
- Analytical skills to evaluate data and performance/operation metrics
- Familiarity with MS Office and various business software
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent decision-making and negotiation skills
- A degree or equivalent, and relevant professional qualifications
- Full UK Driving License
- Ability to work in the UK
- Mac proficient and experience with Xero accounting software beneficial but not essential
