Our client who are a long standing Courier service based in Saltley, Birmingham are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join their team. As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of their company. This is a key leadership role that requires strong organisational skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to effectively manage a team. Duties:
- To oversee and manage the day-to-day planning of the operation.
- Planned Vehicle allocation.
- Network Surveillance to look for opportunity in adding revenue.
- Control of days performance in driver compliance to delivery process
- In Conjunction with the TOM, oversee the planning team to ensure maximum freight capability is maintained on all size vehicles.
- Liaise with TOM to source and remove vehicles where needed.
- Ensure all vehicles are suitable and correct postcode territory and that vehicles are utilised correctly through the day with enough runs for each vehicle to ensure they are maximised to full efficiency.
- Monitor systems through the day and look for opportunities to take out of area pallets off the network for the next day delivery to build routes and utilise the current fleet.
- As well as monitoring through the day, ensure drivers are complying to the required delivery process with such things as sign on glass/ podding off, and requirements such as deliveries aborted corrected by the office staff.
- Daytime warehouse control, Maintain management presence in the warehouse.
- Daily monitoring of transport staff including training and development.
- Analyse and review all trunking operations
- Review efficiency of C & D routes
- Work closely with morning Operations Manager.
- Supply accurate data daily to MD.
- Follow company policies and procedures.
- To maintain close business relationships with new and existing customers and manage their expectations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in operations management or a similar role
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Proficient in using operational software and systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
