The Role

Due to ongoing business growth an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operations Manager to join a market-leading business within the construction and interior fit-out / partitioning and glazing sector. Working as part of the Operations Team, and reporting into the Operations Director, the successful Operations Manager will be responsible for the procurement, supplier management and delivery of fire rated systems across multiple UK based fit out projects.

Supply Chain & Procurement

• React to material releases issued by the Design and Technical team's and place orders for allocated suppliers.
• Discuss urgent site requests or replacements from site-based teams and handle the supply of these requirements from point of ordering to point of delivery.
• Ensure that products are ordered timely and efficiently.
• Provide commercial awareness to all orders placed, checking quotes, and flagging any problems.
• Tracking and reporting all manufacturing activities for live orders placed.
• Forecasting upcoming project requirements and chasing up on any overdue releases.
• Attending and leading weekly manufacture meetings with relevant suppliers.
• Following site programme movements using tools available.
• Ensuring programme updates are managed and tracked and reported back to suppliers.
• Responding to and resolving issues that may arise during the manufacture process.
• React to urgent requests for materials or installation issues that might arise on sites.

Logistics

• Reviewing and understanding logistics reports and sharing with suppliers.
• Ensuring that material orders are packed correctly to aid site delivery.
• Organise third party transport where required.
• Always ensure that materials are delivered safely and discussed with the site teams.

Compliance & Design

• Reviewing and understanding technical drawings ahead of purchase.
• Develop an in-depth knowledge of fire rated systems on offer to the group sales teams, the limitations of these systems and where they are used.
• Develop a very good understanding of manufacturing and installation processes involved with multiple fire rated systems.

General

• Ensure knowledge and awareness of your roles and responsibilities under the Company's integrated systems in relation to Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental.
• Ensure knowledge and understanding of the Company's policies and procedures in relation to data protection legislation.

Requirements

To be successful in the role of Operations Manager we would expect you to have experience in the construction sector with an ability to read and understand technical drawings. Some exposure to glazing and fire rated systems would be beneficial, but not essential. You will have good project management skills with the ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and track and monitor project deliverables. This role could suit someone who has previously worked as a Project Manager, Project Coordinator or Operations Coordinator.
