Job description

Forest School Practitioner

  • Job Type: Permanent, 4 days a week (Term-time Only) 
  • Location: Royston,
  • Salary: FTE £31,000

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Forest School Practitioner to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a Level 3 Qualification in Forest School or Outdoor Education and a love for the great outdoors. This role is perfect for someone who is enthusiastic about delivering high-quality outdoor learning experiences to children and young people.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Plan and deliver engaging outdoor learning activities in line with the Forest School ethos.
  • Create a safe and stimulating outdoor learning environment for children of various ages.
  • Encourage and support children in exploring and learning through play and hands-on experiences in a natural setting.
  • Assess and manage risks associated with outdoor activities to ensure the safety of all participants.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to integrate Forest School principles into the wider curriculum.
  • Maintain and care for Forest School equipment and resources.
  • Monitor and document children’s progress and development through observation and record-keeping.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A Level 3 Qualification in Forest School or Outdoor Education.
  • Experience in delivering Forest School or outdoor learning programmes.
  • Strong understanding of child development and the benefits of outdoor learning.
  • First Aid qualification, ideally with a focus on outdoor environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development in the field of Outdoor Education.
