FLM – Packing – Long Clawson

We’re looking for hardworking, enthusiastic team players who are passionate about working for an award-winning cheese manufacturer, in the Vale of Belvoir situated in the picturesque village of Long Clawson, just 6 miles from Melton Mowbray, 15 miles from Grantham, 10 Miles from Bingham and 16 miles from Nottingham

To be responsible for the total shift Management of your departmental area, ensuring team leaders and staff and activities within the department are managed effectively and efficiently and carry out their allocated duties to the correct standard/specification and efficiencies. To ensure the total department meets all its shift targets set.

Key responsibilities include:

· Ensure the Team Leaders prepare the department, equipment, and staff, to be ready and available in advance, for the start of each shift and all associated change overs.

· Responsible for overseeing performance against operational objectives, for team members

· Ensure that the department complies with Clawson standards as well as local standards, Health & safety requirements, policies, and applicable laws.

· Responsible for the effective running of the department, ensuring communication between functions and department areas is effective.

· Responsible for ensuring all data information is accurate and completed on time.

· Respectfully challenge personnel and process inefficiencies.

· Manage visitors/contractors as and when required.

· Involve the team in the achievement of set targets and work towards reducing wage costs, improving waste management.

· Ensure the control, plan and mobilisation of employees across all production/packing areas.

· Ensure the daily start-up Safety checks are maintained and accurate where applicable.

· Ensure the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), where appropriate

· Receive and communicate daily targets and delivery of production plan to all employees concerned.

· Manage staff morale and seek to resolve ad hoc staffing issues.

· Ensure close integration with engineering staff to maximise efficiencies.

· Manage the effective “close out” of all noncompliance’s raised by the customer or internal audits, by implementing appropriate corrective actions.

· Develop and nurture an ethos of continuous improvement within the workforce, challenge others where appropriate.

· Attend departmental Leader meetings as required.

· Be responsible for and ensure Product quality is maintained in accordance with quality standards.

· Take personal responsibility for own actions and respectfully challenge others where appropriate.

· Report problems or issues as they arise, which may impact on product quality or Production activities.

· Undertake relevant training as and when required.

· Show respect for colleagues, customers and the environment.

· Ensure traceability and scanning is completed in line with procedures and completed efficiently and correctly.

· Perform functions in line with training and work instructions.

· You may be required to undertake other duties from time to time, as the Company may reasonably request/require.

Experience & Skills

Essential

· Previous and proven managerial experience within a manufacturing industry.

· Excellent people management and communication skills

· Current Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate (to be achieved within 12 months)

· Self-motivated and able to motivate others.

· Good level of numeracy & literacy in order to carry out area reporting activities and produce written daily production requirements.

· Good IT skills including Excel and Word

· Must be able to prioritise tasks and deadlines.

· Must be able to work on own initiative.

· Ambitious, driven and passionate about making improvements which lead to visible financial results and increase factory control and ownership.

· Adaptable/flexible to meet requirements and demands of production and seasonal fluctuations.

Desirable

· Knowledge of quality and compliance systems.

· Food/process manufacturing background.

Shift pattern: Monday – Friday, 6:15am – 3pm

Due to the nature of the business and the responsibility of your job role your flexibility to work additional hours, weekends and shifts during seasonal periods may be requested, for the proper performance of your duties.
