Our Team is passionate about providing outstanding 24 hour Paediatric Emergency Care to all our patients and we are seeking dynamic individuals who can flourish working within a fast paced and demanding environment. You will need extensive clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in the multidisciplinary team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an amazing team!
This is a new exciting role within our Paediatric Emergency Department team, working in a Educational Facilitator role, supporting the team to with up to date clinical knowledge and also facilitating the development of the team in line with our education passport. You will also be expected to work 70% contracted hours as sister/charge nurse.
You will be working alongside our other designated Practice Development Nurses and a dynamic team of Clinical Practitioners who will support you in developing your knowledge and skills including triage, EPALS, cannulation & phlebotomy, plastering and wound care.
You will have the opportunity to increase your qualifications/ skills portfolio to support with delivery of courses within ED, these may include BLS, EPALS, AIM course, manual handling and others that are deemed appropriate for the the development of our team.
Wehave recently opened our new urgent and emergency treatment centre, which has included an excitingopportunityto co-locate with our paediatric assessment unit.
The post holder will provide professional development support to staff primarily within the Paediatric Emergency Department.
In addition, he/she will work with the senior Practice Development Nurses, ED matron and other managers to update and develop current clinical practices and training, maintain records and conduct audits of educational and training practices and carry out any other duties commensurate with the grade of post. The post is a dual role post, split working in both a sister/charge nurse post with allocated time in the position of a practice educator.
You will provide a high level of skilled support and guidance to all clinical staff.
With the support of the PED Practice Development Nurse, you will be responsible for co-ordination of teaching and development of all grades of nursing staff within ED.
The post holder will liaise appropriately with all key members of the multi-disciplinary team and service users related to the specialty.
Ensure that care is appropriately planned, implemented and evaluated
Work with minimal supervision and take responsibility for and overseeing the care of paediatric patients who attend the Emergency Department.
Support the Senior Sister/ Matron to monitor the safety and quality of care ensuring the provision of safe, quality care and treatment for patients which delivers the best clinical outcomes and patient experience

Be responsible for the delivery a high standard of individualised care for all paediatric patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
Demonstrates competent clinical practice . Acts a clinical expert in the care of any child who presents to the Emergency Department.
Support in the development of the current PED team, ensuring they are updated with the latest clinical evidence of best practice.
Manage complex clinical situations, providing guidance, supervision and support to junior members of staff in the Emergency Department.
To confidently delegate tasks and activities to a range of team members in relation to patient care
To promote a positive image of Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust at all times.
To work cohesively with all members of the Emergency Department team in
ensuring that the very best service to patients and their families is provided at all times.
Maintain a personal, professional profile, identifying role and skill developments in line with the Scope of Professional Practice
Assist the senior sister by adhering to the procedures for the activation of the nurse bank/alteration of nurse duty rotas highlighting areas when paediatric nursing cover is compromised.
