Paediatric Matron - Band 8A

Applications are invited from suitably-qualified and experienced Paediatric and/or Neonatal Nurses to lead the Inpatient Children's Service as Band 8A Lead Nurse for the nine-bedded inpatient ward and a three-cot Neonatal Unit at the major Health facility on the beautiful Island of Guernsey , in the Channel Islands.

This is a key leadership role, reporting to the Head of Midwifery and Paediatrics and provides leadership, operational management and strategic direction of the service area.

You will;
- lead services that deliver high quality outcomes against best practice standards and promote a culture of openness and transparency whilst enabling your teams to engage in person-centred service developments.
- acts as a leader, advisor and role model.
- ensure appropriate standards of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care are delivered.
- implementing and monitoring quality assurance initiatives including development of action plans and measuring outcomes.
- take full responsibility for Paediatric Ward & Special Care Unit.

Key relationship include; Manager of Health Visitors, School nurses and Community Paediatric Nurses, CAHMS, Children and Family Services, Head of Public Health for Women and Children, Critical Care Unit, A&E, Children's Dental Services.

Please note; Guernsey has adopted the AfC banding system, but have applied their own salary scale.
The Guernsey Band 8A salary range is �67,355 to �80,716 plus an annual bonus of �1,605
Annual leave starts at 36 days up to 42 days with full credit for NHS service for annual leave and sick leave

Person requirements
Registered Paediatric Nurse or Adult Nurse with registered Neonatal post-graduate NMC registration.
Current Band 7 or equivalent senior Paediatric experience in an Acute Paediatric Inpatient and/or Neonatal setting
Completion of a Mentorship qualification
Completion or willingness to complete Masters level qualification
