Paediatric Nurse
Location – North Region
Salary - £40,000 per annum
Monday – Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm (No bank holidays/weekends)
About the role:
Working across the community and within a school environment, the post holder will provide clinical oversight and management of our service which provides one-to-one clinical support to children with complex health and learning needs. Duties range from providing nursing advice, professional liaison, assessment, care planning, clinical training, competency sign offs and oversight of a team of healthcare assistants.
The role may also require the post holder to act as occasional contingency to enable the children to always access and achieve their health and educational potential.
The children who access this service all qualify for continuing care and have clinical complex needs which may include enteral feed- gastrostomy, nasogastric, jejunostomy or TPN, complex respiratory everyday needs e.g. tracheostomy with full airway management ; ventilation and cough assist nasopharyngeal airway; oral suction , end tip tracheal suction and deep tracheal suctioning; oxygen therapy; nebulizers, complex epilepsy – seizure profile/plans development/ketogenic diet/rescue medicine protocol eg buccal midazolam, Vagus nerve stimulation and children requiring blood glucose monitoring.
The post holder will be responsible for a caseload and will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and have continuing responsibility for both direct nursing care, training and competency sign offs for healthcare assistants on the management of delegated tasks. The role will also include incident management including safeguarding, and ensuring company policy and regulatory standards are adhered to.
Duties include:
• Clinically managing a case load across the North region
• Working with the MDT to ensure that care provided is appropriate and relevant to the individual's care package, managing clinical governance within the home
• Participating in pre-admission assessments, assessing client care requirements
• Providing safe and effective processes for the safe delivery of care
• Formulation of care plans, risk assessment and reviews of support plans via our digital system
• Providing ongoing monitoring, support, and assessment of client’s physical and physiological needs within your caseload
• Auditing monthly documentation and actioning findings via our advanced digital platforms
• Participating in recruitment and supervision of nurses and support staff
• Undertaking clinical training with support staff and competency sign offs
