Qualified to at least level 2 meeting the following requirements:

Either

  • 4 GCSEs grade D or above (grade C or above in mathematics)
  • Level 2 vocational qualification (e.g. BTEC First Level 2 Diploma)

LISTENING AND SPEAKING - INTERMEDIATE LEVEL
Able to maintain a fluent conversation on a number of various everyday subjects,and discuss cases involving the field of work.
Able to follow a discussion in Welsh, in Clear Welsh, on familiar matters relating to the post. Able to contribute to the conversation and answer questions.

READING AND COMPREHENSION - INTERMEDIATE LEVEL
Understand everyday correspondence on familiar issues at work.
Understand longer reports in Clear Welsh and be able to pick up the main points. (help may be required with the vocabulary).

WRITING - INTERMEDIATE LEVEL
Able to write letters for a specific purpose, e-mails and short reports in Welsh and English, using vocabulary and simple phrases that are familiar to the field of work. (They will need to be checked before being sent out).


Purpose of the Post

  • Receive experiences and support in the workplace to complete an apprenticeship and gain qualifications in the finance field
  • To contribute as a team member within the Finance unit to provide a financial service to the Council’s departments

Main Duties

Overview

The Service supports all the Council's services to provide for the people of Gwynedd. This includes a wide cross section of local Government's normal work areas. We play a central role in the development of the authority's strategies and main projects, providing specialist advice, drawing up legal documents, dealings and transactions and contracts and representing the Council in courts and tribunals. The service also supports the Monitoring Officer in his statutory role within the Council and therefore involves attending a range of the council's different Committees.

All Gwynedd Council apprentices are expected to demonstrate the following:

Here is an overview of the main duties of the job:

There will be an emphasis on court work within this role by supporting lawyers in the field of children, adults and prosecution in the first place

Complete routine legal research

Submitting information in response to requests

Assist with the initial review of legal documents

Produce first drafts of legal documents and proofread documents

Support lawyers and the bar of lawyers in court proceedings

Develop basic legal knowledge and skills

Develop practical skills such as using technology and commercial awareness

As a Cyngor Gwynedd member of staff, you have the following responsibilities:

Responsibility for self-development.

Ensure that the Health and Safety rules in the workplace and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy are followed

Follow the Council’s policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality.

Responsible for managing information and to ensure that personal information is treated appropriately
