Zest Education are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to work in a SEND school located in Walsall. With excellent train, bus and motorway links, the school is in a great location. This is a part-time position, and you will be required to work 3 days a week. We have opportunities available for immediate starts.
This school caters for students from the age of seven to eighteen with moderate learning difficulties, however majority of the students have additional needs, including autism, speech, language and communication difficulties and some behavioural issues. Due to the needs of the learners, the ideal candidate will have previous experience of supporting individuals with special educational needs.
The role will be working within classes with no more than nine pupils and be heavily focused on teaching the pupils life skills to encourage them to be as independent as possible. You will be passionate towards every pupil to empower them to achieve and reach their full potential.
The role:
- You will ideally have professional or personal experience of working with special educational needs
- Implement positive behaviour management strategies and de-escalate any challenges you do face with your calm approach
- To carry out observations on students to gather a further understanding on the student's stage of development and feedback all findings to the Teacher/SENCO
