We currently spend an estimated £800m pa on our top 16 partners in Openreach, with a fragmented approach that leaks at least 10% value. The way we buy from our partners has been identified as a fundamental challenge.
As a Partner Pipeline and Sourcing Manager, you’ll support all elements of the procurement cycle and value chain by providing securing a pipeline of new and existing partners and bringing them onto the Openreach network.
You’ll be able to operate at the micro-tactical level in order to generate insight that has strategic value. You will collaborate with the Openreach Business Units, existing and potential partners and BT Procurement to underpin our national ambition for full fibre to 25m homes.
You'll have the following Responsibilities
- Understand and analyse market factors and potential and existing partner capacity
- Represent Openreach, lead and manage interactions with potential new partners:
- Establishing initial relationships
- Understanding potential partner capacity
- Conducting small scale operational discussions to develop relationships
- Acting as broker between the Partner, Procurement Finance and Operations
- Collaborate closely with Openreach Business units
- Define operational level 1 controls & processes
- Collaborate closely with adjacent teams in, Business Intelligence and Resource Planning, Partner Management In-Life, and BT Procurement, to develop innovative, E2E solutions to in-year sourcing gaps
- Contribute to sourcing pipeline development through market research, competitor analysis, internal intelligence gathering and resource planning
- Contribute to the wider Partner Management continuous improvement cycle by identifying innovative solution, industrialising for application elsewhere, and driving best practice
- Contribute to wider Partner Management risk management efforts by identifying, controlling and mitigating the impact of partner risk
You'll need to have the following skills and experience
- A well-developed understanding of telecommunications engineering, operations & network construction
- Experience of working with 3P Partners, with an in-depth understanding of their key drivers and how that is balanced with OR business requirements
- Risk management – from identification, characterisation, design of controls and mitigations/ contingency planning
- Project management – a disciplined and rigorous approach
- Stakeholder management abilities across competing functions
- Comfortable leading challenging conversations & interrogating SoRs
- Data analysis skills and experience (Excel)
- Comfortable making considered and thoughtful recommendations based on incomplete and/ or flawed data, balancing commercial & operational requirements & accounting for risk exposure and controls
