Water and Waste business unit (WAW) is a true end-to-end business as part of Wärtsilä Portfolio Businesses. We have now a unique and exciting opportunity for a new Parts Sales Engineer for the Water Systems Ltd Services business, based in UK, Poole, Dorset.
What you will be doing?
In this position, your work will include identification of spare parts in response to customer enquiries, giving technical support to key stakeholders and assisting with obsolescence solutions alongside the product owners. The role would be mainly of a mechanical bias, but a basic understanding of electrical would be a bonus. You will not be working on this alone, even though the work requires a high level of independency, as you will have the support from your immediate team and surrounding departments.
For us to be the best match, we would expect you to have experience of interrogating build records, technical specifications and interpreting customer enquiries.
As a Parts Sales Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities:
- Day to day processing of the allocated workflow, ensuring timely support to PCM & Purchasing teams on technical part queries.
- Actively communicating with stakeholders on workflow activity.
- Actively contribute to obsolescence management. Where necessary seek to find alternative parts and follow the relevant process for product owner approval.
- Providing technical guidance to the PCM & Purchasing Teams.
- Proactively feedback product issues and ideas for product improvement to the Technology team and Engineering department.
- Use complex problem-solving skills and through robust and clear thought processes with input from the Product Owner when required.
- Actively take responsibility for self-development on developing product understanding to achieve a greater wealth of experience and knowledge across all Water & Waste products.
You will shine in this role if you have:
- Ideally with higher level qualifications (HNC / HND or ideally Degree / Master’s Degree) in an engineering related subject
- Good people skills
- Ability to organise your daily workload.
- Strong knowledge of Office tools
- Working knowledge of SAP
- Experience with Autodesk suite, such as Vault, Inventor and AutoCAD.
- In this role, some travel is required to meet with our customers around the world. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 10%, even though most of the meetings are held virtually.
