As a Payroll Assistant, you will be responsible for processing payroll from end to end, utilising your strong understanding of payroll operations.
Payroll Assistant Responsibilities:- Collecting, compiling, and entering payroll data using appropriate software
- Calculating and posting payroll deductions
- Processing payroll by established deadlines
- Reconciling employee deductions
- Investigating and correcting payroll discrepancies and errors
- Updating payroll records, including changes related to auto-enrolment pensions, loan payments, and salary increases
- Processing new employees, terminations, and transfers
- Calculating holiday entitlement
- Preparing and printing payroll reports for earnings, hours worked, PAYE tax, National Insurance, auto-enrolment pension, and holiday
- Addressing employee pay-related concerns and providing accurate payroll information
- Developing, managing, and maintaining comprehensive payroll records
- Ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations and guidelines
- Assisting with general office administration duties as required
- Experience in payroll processing
- CIPP qualification (preferred but not essential, as qualified by experience will also be considered)
- Good working knowledge of Word, Excel, Brightpay, Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage
- Experience in a practice-based environment (preferred but not essential)
- Analytical, methodical, and numerical skills
